Zusammenfassung
Dem von der Cellularpathologie Rudolf Virchows beeinflußten Hamburger Dermatologen P. G. Unna verdanken wir die erste systematische mikroskopische Bearbeitung der Hautkrankheiten. Da er Neuland beackerte, legte er seinem Werk „Die Histopathologie der Hautkrankheiten“ (1894) im wesentlichen die Ergebnisse eigener Untersuchungen zugrunde. 16 Jahre später ergänzte Unna sein Werk durch einen „Histologischen Atlas zur Pathologie der Haut“. Für Jahrzehnte blieben seine Darstellungen die Grundlage pathologisch-histologischer Forschung an der Haut. So ist P. G. Unna der Begründer der Histopathologie der Haut, einer Arbeitsrichtung, welche bis heute für die Diagnostik und Forschung immer mehr an Bedeutung gewonnen hat. Daran ändert auch die Tatsache nichts, daß in den letzten 30 Jahren die mikroskopische Analyse immer mehr durch ultrastrukturelle Untersuchungen ergänzt wurde. Durch diese Entwicklung ist die Histopathologie nicht nur zum Helfer der Klinik, sondern auch der Elektronenmikroskopie geworden.
