Abstract
Thorough acquaintance with the anatomy of the hip joint is a prerequisite to hip surgery and the surgeon must be used to thinking in three dimensions. Only those basic principles and special features relevant to HA (including the operative risks) are dealt with in the following illustrations. Full descriptions of the anatomy of the hip joint may be found in anatomy text books (Figs. 14 —17).
