Ecological Effects of Fishpond Amelioration
In modern pond management, amelioration is mainly performed in two ways:
Both types were introduced more or less simultaneously in the early sixties. The following pertains almost exclusively to South Bohemian fishponds, where the effects of pond amelioration on plant life were followed in the years 1961–1971.
the mechanical way, using heavy machinery
the biotechnical way, employing duck- and goose-farming
