Water Relations. Water Balance, Transpiration, and Water Turnover in Selected Reedswamp Communities

Abstract

The water relations were mainly studied in pure stands of Phragmites communis and in plant communities dominated by this highly adaptable plant, as well as in communities of Glyceria maxima (Glycerietum maximae). For understanding the ecology of Phragmites communities, it is essential to know the physiological processes which determine the productivity, viability and adaptability of this species to the given biotope.
