Abstract
Biologische Probleme: 1. Auf einer Oberfläche: Haare auf dem Schädel, Federn auf dem Vogelkörper, Flecke auf dem Felle des Leoparden …; 2. Längs einer Achse : Sreifen auf dem Felle des Tigers oder des Zebras; aber auch, bei allen Wirbeltieren, embryologische Erscheinung der späteren Metamerie auf dem anfänglich kontinuierlichen Embryo, mit sehr wichtigen Folgen ebenso fur Nervensystem und Blutgefässsystem, wie für Skelett: Rippen, Wirbeln.
Though Prof. Maresquelle did not participate at the Workshop I included his comment because of its general interest. I hope that the ideas I presented in my introductory talk might serve as a first step to find an answer to Maresquelle’s question about an abstract formulation of pattern formation.
