Part of the book series: Ecological Studies ((ECOLSTUD,volume 27))

Abstract

In the previous chapters the blanket bog has been considered as a discrete, self-contained ecosystem. The bog is now considered in combination with other vegetation—soil communities, to examine the contribution of each community to the diversity of the moorland, to determine the transfers between the communities and between the land and the streams, and to indicate the relationship between man and the moorland.
