Abstract
It is almost obligatory that congenital dislocation of the hip be accompanied by femoral neck axis deviation, i.e., by pathologic valgus and exaggerated anteversion. This axis defect should be corrected, whether the cause be a severely deficient acetabular roof over the femoral head, an increasing growth eccentricity of the capital epiphysis, or a lateralization or luxation tendency of the femoral head. Correction of the antetorsion then becomes more important than that of the valgus.
