Zusammenfassung

Jedem, der Säuglinge über längere Zeit studiert, wird die Erfahrung vertraut sein, daß seine Ausführungen im Publikum mit gemischten Gefühlen aufgenommen werden. Der Zuhörer mag zwar anerkennen, daß sich der Säuglingsforscher um wichtige Fragen bemüht und Interessantes beobachtet, bleibt gewöhnlich jedoch skeptisch im Hinblick auf die ethischen Aspekte. Welche Studien sind überhaupt bei einem so zarten, empfindlichen Organismus erlaubt und wie groß ist der Spielraum für exakte wissenschaftliche Arbeit?
