Abstract
The therapy of lumbar disc herniation seems to be a surgical and physiotherapeutic problem. But even when massive disc prolapses are removed, the results of treatment are not always satisfactory. The causes pf these therapeutic failures are manifold. Personality disorders or psychogenic factors may play the most important role. To cast further light on this problem, a combined psychiatric, psychological and neurosurgical study was performed.
