Zusammenfassung
Grund-Bausteine aller Proteine sind Aminosäuren; wie der Name sagt, besitzen sie zwei charakteristische endständige funktionelle Gruppen, die Aminogruppe -NH2 und die Carbonsäuregruppe -COOH. Zwanzig verschiedene Aminosäuren kommen regelmäßig in Proteinen vor, davon sind 9 unentbehrlich („essentiell“), d. h. sie können vom Menschen nicht synthetisiert werden.
