Abstract

In view of the limited space available, the author had to decide whether to present a comprehensive and documented list of uncouplers or to attempt an analysis of uncoupling. He chose the latter. Comprehensive lists of uncouplers are to be found elsewhere (Good et al., 1966a; Izawa and Good, 1972; Good and Izawa, 1973).
