Resolution Characteristics of Computerized Tomography and their Impact on Quantitative Brain Diagnosis

  • Chapter
Cranial Computerized Tomography

Abstract

The computerized tomogram (CT) represents the two-dimensional density distribution of a head section. The accuracy of this image may be characterized by its density and spatial resolution. Routine diagnosis is mainly based on a qualitative evaluation of image morphology. Aquantitative analysisis, however, sometimes needed and can be accomplished, if the system’ stransmission features are considered.
