Follow-up Studies in Cerebral Tumors Using CT

  • Chapter
Cranial Computerized Tomography

Abstract

With the use of CT in the diagnosis of intracranial space-occupying processes, differentiation between tumor part and perifocal edema as well as bleeding, cystic part, and in farct became possible for the first time. The high predictability, the lack of pain and risk, as well as the low radiation dose justify repeat CT investigations. In this way, numerous questions concerning the development of a brain tumor, the conservative therapeutic influencability, and the operative treatment of cerebral processes may be elucidated. Planning of neurosurgical intervention, particularly the choice of operation date as well a seventual decision against operation have been crucially influenced by CT.
