Abstract
In thionine stained sections prepared from unfixed and frozen brains there is considerable loss of cytological detail. The “cytoarchitectonic” characteristics observable in the present material are, therefore, mostly cell-packing and to some extent cell-size. Subdivision on these criteria are often best performed in rather thick sections. Trials with sections thicker than 40 μm did not, however, disclose new features.
