Kinetics of Antagonist Action

  • Chapter
Histamine II and Anti-Histaminics

Abstract

In Chapter IV.A of this volume we deal in more detail with the kinetics of the interaction of antihistaminics with the so-called H1 receptors for histamine. In the present subchapter we will study general aspects of that interaction, having in view the possibility of developing a general theory that might embody the interaction of agonists (including cholinomimetics) and antagonists with receptors, from a thermodynamic standpoint.
