Abstract
Histamine and histamine-like substances have been implicated in inflammations and injuries for many decades. Obviously, however, inflammations may arise from many different causes, and the various complex phenomena and their time sequences may be very different; the role of histamine may thus be important in some kinds of inflammation but not in others. Antihistaminic drugs are tools with which we hope to dissect out the role of histamine.
