Abstract
I was kindly invited by Professor BETZ to discuss the uses of La+++ in studying arterial smooth muscle excitation contraction coupling. To illustrate these uses I will focus on two questions: (1.) How does norepinephrine (NE) raise the myoplasmic (Ca++)? and (2.) How much Ca++ is required for activation of intact arterial smooth muscle?
