Drug Effects on AV Conduction

  • Conference paper
Cardiac Pacing

Abstract

In recent years His bundle electrography has proved to be a valuable method for analysis of conduction disorders. In addition, drug effects on AV conduction and the preferential site of drug action can be evaluated with this method. Its accuracy, however, is limited. Pharmacologically induced changes of the conduction intervals must exceed at least 5 or 10 ms for reliable measurement at a recording paper speed of 100 mm/s (0.5–1 mm). Therefore, 10 or even 20% changes of the P — A and H — R intervals (normal values about 30 and 40 ms, respectively) may excape recognition.
