Zusammenfassung
Dem Serotonin im zentralen Nervensystem werden Funktionen eines Neurotransmitters zugeschrieben, die im einzelnen jedoch bisher nicht aufgeklärt sind (SEILER et al. , 1971). Aus dem hohen Gehalt dieses Amins in manchen Hirnabschnitten läßt sich die Vermutung ableiten, daß dem Serotonin eine physiologische Bedeutung zukommt. So soll es für die Temperaturregulation eine Rolle spielen, weil es in relativ hoher Konzentration in bestimmten Bezirken des Hypothalamus gefunden wurde (VOGT u. WILSON, 1972) und bei Injektion in diesen Bereich die Körpertemperatur verändert (FELDBERG et al. , 1 964).
