Abstract

The last review on mutations in higher plants was given by RÖBBELEN in 1969. So many papers have been published in this field during the past 6 years that the numerous findings obtained cannot be mentioned in detail. In the present report, the efficiency of new and already known mutagens is reviewed; moreover, the trend of the research activities in some special fields of gene and chromosome mutations is reported. Because of the limited space available for this part of botanical research in the present volume, the review on genome mutations will be given in Volume 39 of this periodical.
