Seitdem Muskelrelaxantien als moderne anaesthesiologische Pharmaka im klinischen Betrieb eingesetzt worden sind, wurden unzählige Muskelrelaxantien entwickelt. Ein ideales Muskelrelaxans soll folgende Anforderungen erfüllen:

Der Wirkungseintritt soll schnell sein, um eine Intubation zu ermöglichen.

2.
Das Muskelrelaxans soll gut steuerbar sein, d. h. die Wirkzeit nicht zu lange andauern.

3.
Das Muskelrelaxans soll keine Nebenwirkung haben.
