Abstract
The myopathy elicited by the herbicide 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is another example of predilective involvement of white (type-2) muscle fibres in an experimental disease. By appropriate dosage of this agent, acute or subacute myopathic states can be evoked in warm-blooded animals. The principal subject of the present study is the subacute myopathy of 2,4-D induced in the white rat by repeated injections of the substance. Preceding this section, the results of a critical re-evaluation (139, 141) of the sequelae of acute intoxication with 2,4-D are discussed.
