Stratigraphic Implications of Random Sedimentation

Book cover Random Processes in Geology

Abstract

Stratigraphic time can be measured by a variety of methods. In its original meaning, stratigraphy takes its time scale from the rates of sedimentation. However, sedimentation rates are not constant, and some simple random processes are used to describe this situation. Having decided on such a sedimentation model, one can examine its stratigraphic behavior.
