Abstract
Among the various forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), we have studied the spinal variant. Differential diagnosis of this pictures of a progressive spinal syndrome (progressive parapareses or paraplegias) poses special difficulties as compared to other non-disseminated spinal diseases. Particularly the diseases which are relevant from the neurosurgical point of view, i. e. spinal tumors and the so-called cervical myelopathy associated with spondylotic lesions of the cervical spine, merit special discussion.
