Abstract

Systematic desensitization is a widely used treatment for sexual frigidity (LAZARUS, 1963; FAULK, 1970). LAZARUS (1961) reported the successful use of group desensitization in the treatment of phobic patients, and in 1968 he described a small group of frigid patients treated by group desensitization, 3 out of 4 patients being much improved by the treatment. STONE and LEVINE (1950) advocated group discussion of sexual problems as a psychotherapeutic technique in cases of sexual difficulties. The present study reports the use of group desensitization combined with limited group discussion of sexual problems in the treatment of frigid patients.
