Abstract
Of the various compartments of intracranial pressure studied the pressure within the brain parenchyma itself has been relatively neglected. Recent work has been done, mostly with the wick method, and referred to as brain tissue pressure. Because of the interest in regional pressure gradients within the brain parenchyma and various intracranial compartments we have attempted to develop a method for measuring ICPP over relatively long periods of observation. We have used a catheter transducer implanted stereotactically into the cat cerebral hemisphere.
