Abstract
Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) denotes a situation in which “symptomatic hydrocephalus is associated with normal cerebrospinal fluid pressure” (1). The pathophysiology of this condition has been the subject of such speculation but there is some agreement on the fact that basically there is a defect to the absorption of CSF, related mainly to an increased outflow resistance (2). When a constant-infusion manometric test (3) is used to study absorption, the steady state pressure resulting from the increased flow is higher than in normal conditions (4).
