Abstract

It has been recognized for a long time that in cases of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, occasionally intra-vascular coagulation may be present. (1,2,3,10). The aetiology is unclear. It is not known whether it is primary or secondary to some vascular abnormality. However in 50 per cent of cases of intra-uterine growth retardation (I. U. G. R.) maternal reno-vascular pathology is found.
