The Branches of the Coronary Arteries

  • Chapter

Abstract

The designation of a branch should include its origin and the border or sector of the wall of the ventricle on which it courses. For example, the anterior interventricular branch of the anterior division and obtuse marginal branch of the posterior division course over the borders of the lateral wall. A lateral branch of either the anterior or posterior division descends in the 90° sector of this wall; similarly anterolateral branches of the anterior division and posterolateral branches of both divisions cross the sectors implied.
