Zusammenfassung
Die Wichtigkeit kooperativer klinischer Studien zur Chemotherapie maligner Tumoren wird zunehmend anerkannt. Durch Zusammenarbeit im Rahmen gut kontrollierter Studien auf der Grundlage sorgfältig ausgearbeiteter prospektiver Therapieprogramme kann die Arbeitskapazität zahlreicher Untersucher an verschiedenen Kliniken und Spitälern der Beurteilung in der Weiterentwicklung der Chemotherapie nutzbar gemacht werden. Auf diesem Gebiet sind in den zurückliegenden Jahren der ersten Entwicklung viele klinische Einzeluntersuchungen mit unzureichender Beurteilbarkeit und mangelnder Vergleichbarkeit durchgeführt worden. Seit die Möglichkeit einer Chemotherapie maligner Tumoren erkannt ist, taucht eine ganze Reihe noch offener Probleme auf, die damit verknüpft sind. Diese in der zeitsparendsten Weise so zu lösen, daß die kleinstmögliche Zahl von Patienten dabei potentiell gefährdet wird, erscheint nur durch geeignete Zusammenarbeit möglich (CUTLER et al., 1957). Subjektive Beurteilungen und Schlußfolgerungen mit deren hohem Grad an Irrtumsmöglichkeit sind nur auf diese Weise sicher genug zu vermeiden.
