Abstract

The veins of the superficial network will be described in the following order: the veins of the medulla, of the pons, of the ventral side of diencephalon, and of the mesencephalon. The superficial veins in these regions of the encephalon are very similar in appearance to the veins of the upper part of the spinal cord. This similarity is particularly evident in the region of the medulla but less and less evident in the upper region of the brain stem. In this study we note the path taken by the principal veins which run along the sulci on the surface of the nervous tissue. In order to situate these veins more clearly, we have chosen, in most cases, to give them the names of the sulci which they follow.
