Zusammenfassung
Zell- und Organtransplantationen haben sich in den letzten 10 Jahren einen festen Platz im therapeutischen Arsenal der klinischen Medizin erworben. Eine Übersicht des Organtransplantations-Registers des American College of Surgeons und der National Institutes of Health läßt erkennen, daß auf der ganzen Welt bis zum 1.4.1972 von 366 Arbeitsgruppen insgesamt etwa 9700 Transplantationen bei ca. 9000 Empfängern durchgeführt wurden (1). Diese Zusammenstellung läßt erkennen, daß die Nierentransplantationen mit 94,3% die unbestrittene Spitzenposition einnimmt und demgegenüber die übrigen Organtransplantationen von Herz, Leber, Lungen und Pankreas einen sehr kleinen Anteil ausmachen. Die klinische Praxis der Nierentransplantationen zeigt, daß bei dieser die weitaus längsten Überlebenszeiten mit funktionsfähigem Transplantat erreicht werden.
