Abstract

Information on geographical distribution of malignant diseases is of major importance in our efforts to elucidate their causes. By geographical distribution of a disease is meant any observed differences in the frequency of the disease when one country is compared with another or when one area is compared with another. In this chapter, the sources of such information are first discussed and a few terms relating to epidemiological methods defined. Subsequently, some of the existing information, as it pertains to neoplasms of individual organs, is reviewed.
