Effects of Various Types of Vagotomy with and without Pyloroplasty on Gastric Acid Secretion in the Dog

  • Chapter
Vagotomy

Abstract

As information on the relations between the abdominal vagus nerve, gastric function and the physiology of gastric secretion has increased, the technique of vagotomy has been improved. One of the problems to be solved with this operation is that, although in recent years much attention has been paid to the role of the antral branches of the vagus nerve, complete information is not yet available. To elucidate the function of the antral branches, experimental studies were conducted on the influence of the section of each branch on humoral gastric secretion.
