Efficiency Test on Four High-Speed Plankton Samplers

  • Conference paper
The Early Life History of Fish

Abstract

The Gulf III high-speed plankton sampler (Gehringer, 1952, 1961) has been widely used for sampling of fish larvae (Bridger, 1958; Saville, 1966; Zijlstra, 1970). The Bongo sampler (McGowan and Brown, 1966) has more recently been applied (Anon, 1972). In Norwegian coastal waters extensive larval surveys have been carried out in which fish larvae have been collected with Clarke-Bumpus plankton samplers (e.g. Wiborg, 1954, 1960; Dragesund, 1970; Dragesund, Gjøsaeter and Monstad, 1972).
