Abstract

The karyotypes presented here were obtained from short term blood cultures. The sex chromosomes, male-ZZ, female-ZW correspond to the 4th pair of macrochromosomes. The W is about twice as large as the Z. The diploid number of 50 chromosomes is the highest so far reported in snakes.
