Abstract

This review has several purposes, (1) to cell attention to a newly defined form of surgically correctable hypertension and to describe in detail the components of this clinical syndrome, (2) to review the cases that have been published to date, and to mention several unpublished cases which have come to the attention of the author, (3) to outline present criteria which may lead to a preoperative diagnosis and (4) to discuss several’points of physiological interest which have evolved from careful study of this syndrome.
