Intergrowths of Feldspars with Other Minerals

  • Chapter
Feldspar Minerals

Abstract

Intergrowths of feldspars with other minerals provide important information on the reaction sequences in various rocks. However there is considerable controversy about the mechanisms of formation of many intergrowths. Some of the intergrowths occur in deep-seated rocks in which chemical migration and atomic ordering occurred in response to decreasing temperature and pressure. Furthermore the deformational history of the rock body contributes to the complexity of the mineral reactions. The literature is endless and it is difficult to detect the fundamental processes among the noise generated by trivial local conditions.
