Zusammenfassung
Der Energieverbrauch gehört zu den wichtigsten Kennziffern des zivilisatorischen Standes eines Zeitalters. Er ist deutlich mit dem Bruttonationalprodukt korreliert. Wir finden folgerichtig den Energieverbrauch in unserem Wachstumszeitalter in lebhafter Expansion begriffen (Fig. 1). Die Kohlenproduktion wächst z.B. mit 3,6% pro Jahr, die Produktion von Erdöl und Gas mit fast 7% und die Kraftwerkskapazität nimmt jährlich um etwa 8% zu, d.h. mit einer Verdoppelungszeit von nur 8,7 Jahren [1].
