Zusammenfassung
Die magnetomotorische Informationsspeicherung [1, 5, 6, 17, 35] wurde zuerst für die Schallaufzeichnung verwendet. Die als Zeitfunktion einer physikalischen Größe vorliegende oder gegebenenfalls in eine solche Zeitfunktion umzuwandelnde Information wird bei dieser Art der Speicherung auf einer Wegstrecke (Spur) des Speichermediums (Magnetband usw.) in Form von Magnetisierungsänderungen festgehalten. Bei der Speicherung binärer Information, auf die sich die folgenden Ausführungen beschränken, genügt naturgemäß die Verwendung von nur zwei sicher unterscheidbaren Magnetisierungen (s. Abschnitt 4.8.3 — Schreibverfahren). Die zur Aufzeichnung (Schreiben) und zur Wiedergabe der Information (Lesen) verwendeten elektromagnetischen Wandler (Schreib- und Leseköpfe) unterscheiden sich im Prinzip nicht von den für Schallaufzeichnung verwendeten Magnetköpfen. Ungeachtet der Ähnlichkeiten im Aufbau und in den Grundfunktionen bestehen jedoch auf Grund der besonderen Betriebsbedingungen eine Reihe von Unterschieden und Eigenheiten in der Konstruktion, Anordnung und Verwendung (s. Abschnitt 4.8.2 — Magnetköpfe).
