Zusammenfassung
Prinzip. Assoziative Speicher (AS) sind digitale wortorganisierte Informationsspeicher, bei denen die Worte — im Gegensatz zu den in den vorigen Abschnitten behandelten „adressierbaren“ Speichern — mit Hilfe des gespeicherten Inhalts ausgewählt werden. Jedes gespeicherte Wort enthält ein Merkmal (Deskriptor), das mit einem von außen angebotenen Vergleichswort (Suchwort, Abfragewort, Referenzwort) gleichzeitig verglichen wird. Jedes Wort besitzt hierzu eine Koinzidenzschaltung, die bei Übereinstimmung des Merkmals mit dem Vergleichswort ein Markenregisterelement setzt. Nach diesem Auswahlprozeß werden die so markierten Worte gelesen oder beschrieben.
