Abstract

A traditional folksong asks “Why did they put the shore so near the ocean?” Whatever the reason, it is indeed fortunate that “they” did. The gallon or cubic meter of desalted sea water will be cheaper if delivered for use in coastal regions rather than in higher inland locations.
