Abstract
This book is primarily a survey of aspects of ring theory since the publication of Jacobson’s Colloquium publication [55, 64] and all of Volume II is devoted to ring theory. A few brief indications of the overlap with Jacobson might be helpful. The revised edition [64] of Jacobson [55] contained three appendices, which overlaps with us in the main Goldie-Lesieur-Croisot theorem (Chapter 9), the Faith-Utumi theorem (Chapter 10), the Wedderburn Factor Theorem and the Amitsur theorems on the Jacobson radical of polynomial and group rings (Chapter 26). However, some extensions and applications of the Goldie theorems and the Faith-Utumi theorem given in Chapters 9, 10, 18 and 19 are new with us.
