Abstract
Several workers have reported to this Syposium studies on virulent bacterial pathogens well known to cause severe infection; at the other end of the scale, and in complete contrast, the present paper describes investigations on an indolent condition so low-grade that clinical symptoms frequently remain undetected for many months, and which is now regarded by many authorities as an example of colonisation rather than infection.
