Sesquiterpene Lactones in Compositae

  • Conference paper
Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry

Abstract

The degree to which modern techniques of chemical analysis and structure determi1nation have contributed to the development of our knowledge of plant constituents is aptly illustrated by considering recent developments in sesquiterpene chemistry. Comparison of the relatively small sesquiterpene section in Simonsen’s classic treatise1) with the ever-increasing diversity of sesquiterpene structures found in today’s literature amply supports this statement.
