Abstract

Two particles are fixed on a circle with a mutual repulsion given by

$$V \left( {\mathop \varphi \nolimits_1 ,\mathop \varphi \nolimits_2 } \right) = \mathop V\nolimits_0 \cos \left( {\mathop \varphi \nolimits_1 - \mathop \varphi \nolimits_2 } \right) $$

to simulate e.g. the Coulomb repulsion between the two helium electrons in the ground state. The conservation of angular momentum shall be derived, and the relative motion of the particles discussed.
