Abstract

The portable apparatus is first placed to the right of the patient’s bed and switched on (Fig. 4). The time that it takes the impulse to appear on the oscilloscope screen gives the examiner the opportunity to disinfect his hands. Before the actual examination begins, enough time should be taken in order to establish contact with the patient. In pediatrics this can be accomplished with a toy, which has the effect of calming the child and possibly alleviating his fears.
