Die Grundgedanken, die dieses Buch zum Ausdruck bringen wollte, lassen sich vielleicht am besten zusammenfassen, wenn man ausgehend von unserem heutigen Wissensstand versucht, mögliche Hauptrichtungen der immunologischen und immunchemischen Grundlagenforschung für die nächsten Jahre aufzuzeigen und weiterreichende Problemstellungen zu skizzieren, für die erst neue experimentelle Ansätze gefunden werden müssen.
