Zusammenfassung

Die submikroskopische Struktur der Algen entspricht im Grundschema derjenigen eukaryotischer Zellen (vgl. die Beiträge von SITTE). Wenn hierüber in diesem Band gesondert berichtet wird, kann dies nur Eigenheiten betreffen, die durch spezielle Lebensweise, abweichenden Stoffwechsel oder die besondere phylogenetische Stellung dieser Abteilung des Pflanzenreiches bedingt sind. Für die systematische Gliederung bedeutsame Feinstrukturmerkmale wurden und werden an anderer Stelle erwähnt (vgl. die Beiträge von SCHUSSNIG, sowie auch von GEITLER u. TSCHERMAK-WOESS). Hier sollen allein cytologisch relevante Befunde zusammengefaßt werden, die in jüngerer Zeit an dieser auch in feinbaulicher Hinsicht überaus vielfältigen Gruppe erhoben wurden.1
