Abstract

The volatile fatty acids (V. F. A’s) to be discussed are the lower (i. e. volatile) monocarboxylic acids, the series ending arbitrarily at capric acid. Other acids of varying degrees of volatility e. g. HCN, oxalic acid, etc. are described in more appropriate places. Substituted fatty acids e. g. fluoracetic acid are also not included.
